THE CLOUDSMEN (Self released)

What are the Cloudsmen about?

It’s really quite simple, actually. Take a couple of well constructed, well performed tuneful songs and wrap them up tightly in every conceivable positive pop influence from the 60s and the 70s – yeah, you could have the Beatles, the Kinks, the Move, Wings, Todd Rundgren, Badfinger, Raspberries et al – and SHAZAM!

All right, not totally up to the mark but you get the general idea. The Cloudsmen, I believe know the high standards they’re trying to emulate so tracks like the beaty “Heat Score,” the cod-psychedelic “House of Cards” and especially the dynamic “Window” show signs of promise though there’s still work to be done. Sure, others have plowed similar tracks (and more successfully) but as a statement of intent, this is a good start. (www.thecloudsmen.com) B-
